What We Repair at Our Newton Shop
Same full repair scope as our other Massachusetts locations — phones, tablets, laptops, MacBooks, game consoles, and Apple Watch. Phone and iPad repairs (screens, batteries, charging ports) are done same-day at the Newton counter while you wait. For laptops, MacBooks, and consoles, we tell you the realistic timeline after a free diagnostic — most still finish same-day or next-day. Board-level work typically takes 2 to 5 business days. Quoted price is the price you pay — no upcharges mid-repair.
iPhone Repair
iPhone repair is what we do most days. Every current iPhone is stocked at the Newton shop for same-day screen and battery work — walk in, get diagnosed, walk out with a working phone. iPhone screens take 20 to 30 minutes, batteries 30 to 60. Older models (iPhone X, 11, 12 series) are typically in stock too; for iPhone SE generations and earlier 6/7/8 models, we order parts if not in stock and complete the repair within 1 to 2 business days.

Samsung Galaxy Repair
Galaxy S series, Z Fold and Z Flip series, A series, and older Note models. Samsung screens are technically harder than iPhone — the AMOLED panel is bonded to the frame on most current models — but we have the right tools and the right experience. Most S-series screens done same-day, 45 to 75 minutes. Z Fold and Z Flip inner screens are a different process and take longer.
| Models Supported | Common Issues We Fix |

MacBook Repair
MacBook Air and MacBook Pro — M-series (M1 through M4) and Intel models. Apple won't open most MacBooks at the Genius Bar — they send them out for "depot" service that can take 7-14 days. We typically diagnose same-day and complete most repairs within 1 to 3 business days. Logic board work (no boot, no power, GPU artifacting) is board-level work and takes longer.
| Models Supported | Common Issues We Fix |

Other Cell Phone Repair
Google Pixel, Motorola, and OnePlus are the Android brands we work on most often — Samsung, Pixel and Motorola parts are mostly in stock, and OnePlus parts we order in. We do not currently repair Xiaomi, Redmi, Huawei, or Nothing phones — the parts and tooling availability isn't there yet for those brands in our supply chain. Diagnostic is always free for any brand we work on.
| Models Supported | Common Issues We Fix |
|---|---|
| Google Pixel 9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, 9a | Screen, battery, USB-C port, back glass, camera |

iPad Repair
Screen, battery, charging port, and home button repair across the iPad lineup. iPad screens are bonded to the digitizer differently than iPhones — the process takes longer, but the result is just as clean. iPad screen replacements include the same lifetime warranty as cell phone screens.
| Models Supported | Common Issues We Fix |
|---|---|

PC Laptop Repair
Dell, HP, Lenovo, ASUS, Acer, Microsoft Surface, Razer, Samsung Galaxy Book, LG Gram, and most gaming laptops. PC laptop parts vary widely by manufacturer and model — we order most parts from authorized distributors, so timelines depend on availability. PlayStation Repair
PS5, PS4, and PS4 Pro console repair. The most common console repair we see is the HDMI port — the port is soldered directly to the board, and when it bends or breaks from a snagged cable, the console shows "no signal." That's board-level work, and we handle it. Disc drive issues, fan and overheating problems are handled in-shop too. We do not currently repair PlayStation controllers — the labor on stick drift and trigger replacement runs close to the cost of a new controller, so we refer those customers to swap rather than repair.
| Models Supported | Common Issues We Fix |
|---|---|
| PS5 (Disc + Digital), PS5 Slim, PS5 Pro | HDMI port (most common), no display, disc drive errors, overheating / fan noise, controller drift |
| PS4 Pro, PS4 Slim, original PS4 | HDMI port, blue light of death, disc drive, fan, power supply, controller drift |
| PlayStation Portal · PSVR2 | Diagnosis is free — ask about your specific issue |
Xbox Repair
Xbox Series X, Series S, Xbox One X / One S / original One. Same pattern as PlayStation — HDMI port damage is the most common Xbox repair we see, and it's a board-level fix. Disc drives on Xbox One series fail predictably with age; we can replace or refurbish them. We do not currently repair Xbox controllers — the labor on stick drift and trigger work runs close to the cost of a new controller, so we refer those customers to swap rather than repair.
| Models Supported | Common Issues We Fix |
|---|---|
| Xbox Series X, Series S | HDMI port (most common), no display, disc drive (Series X), overheating, fan replacement |
| Xbox One X, One S, original Xbox One | HDMI port, disc drive (frequently fails on One/One S), power brick, fan, no power |
| Xbox 360 (legacy) | RROD (red ring), disc drive, HDMI. Parts limited; we'll check stock. |
Apple Watch Repair
Apple Watch screen replacement only at our Newton shop. Apple's policy is to replace the entire watch rather than repair the screen, which costs as much as a new one. We replace just the cracked glass and digitizer assembly — a fraction of the Apple replacement cost — and the watch continues working with all your data intact. We do not currently offer Apple Watch battery replacement or water damage repair — battery work requires sealing that we leave to Apple.
| Models Supported | Common Issues We Fix |
|---|---|
| Apple Watch Series 10, Series 9, Series 8, SE (2nd gen) | Screen replacement (cracked glass and digitizer assembly) |
| Apple Watch Ultra 2, Ultra | Screen replacement on the larger 49mm sapphire display |
| Apple Watch Series 7, Series 6, Series 5, Series 4, SE (1st gen) | Screen replacement on older Series models |
| Apple Watch Series 3, Series 2, Series 1 | Screen replacement only. Parts limited on older models — we'll check stock. |
How to Find Our Newton Shop
We're at 212 Sumner Street in Newton, on the first floor of Centre Place, Suite #5. The shop sits directly across from the USPS Post Office and next door to BYOD dog wash — both useful landmarks if you're new to the area.
Getting here
Sumner Street runs through the heart of Newton Centre, connecting the village to Chestnut Hill, Brookline, and West Newton with no highway required. From I-90 (Mass Pike), take the Newton Centre exits and head south on Centre Street; Sumner branches off toward the Post Office area. From Route 9, drop down through Chestnut Hill toward Newton Centre and Sumner is a short cross-street. Most customers coming from Brookline or Chestnut Hill find us in under 10 minutes.
Nearby landmarks
About 3 minutes from Newton Centre Green Line station (D Branch) and a short walk from the Newton Centre village restaurants on Beacon Street. The Atrium Mall and Boston College area are roughly 10 minutes away. The Apple Store at The Shops at Chestnut Hill is nearby — but they won't see you same-day without a Genius Bar appointment, which is why most of our customers come straight to us.
Parking
Street-level parking only on Sumner Street and the surrounding side streets — there is no parking behind Centre Place. If Sumner is full directly in front of the shop, the cross-streets usually have open space within a block. Plan a couple extra minutes during peak hours.
Look for these landmarks on your way
Customers tell us the storefront is easy to miss the first time. The reliable visual cues to find us:
How a Walk-In Repair Works
Whether you booked a quote online or just walked in off Sumner Street, the process is the same. Free diagnostic on every device, exact price quoted before any work starts, and you decide whether to proceed.
Walk in or call ahead
Drop in during our hours (Mon-Sun 10am-8pm). If you want to skip any wait or confirm we have your specific model in stock, call (617) 992-4003 before coming. Most current iPhone, Samsung, and iPad models are stocked for same-day repair.
Free diagnostic (5-10 minutes)
A technician looks at the device at the counter, runs through the relevant tests (display, touch, charging, power, battery health), and confirms what's actually wrong. The diagnostic is always free — you pay nothing until we tell you exactly what the problem is and what the repair will cost.
Upfront quote
We give you the exact price before any work starts. No surprise fees, no "we ran into something" markups at the end. If the quote is more than you want to spend, take the device home and you owe us nothing. If you approve, we start the repair.
Same-day repair (most common)
For in-stock screens and batteries, we do the repair while you wait — 20 to 30 minutes for most iPhone screens, 30 to 60 for batteries. Grab a coffee at one of the Newton Centre cafes a block away, run errands at the Post Office across the street, or wait in the shop. If we're picking up a part from another location or it's a more complex repair, we'll text or call when it's ready.
Test and walkout
Before you leave, we test the repair end-to-end. You get a receipt that documents your warranty terms — the lifetime screen warranty (on screen replacements) is honored at any of our four Massachusetts locations.
Microsoldering and Board-Level Repair
Board-level work covers charging IC replacement, backlight circuit repair, water damage component restoration, no-power diagnostics, HDMI ports and microsoldering. These are the repairs where the fault is on the logic board itself, not a part you can unplug and swap.
How it works
Bring the device to our Newton shop. We diagnose it at the counter for free, quote you the board-level work, and start only after you approve. The work is done by our own technicians, never subcontracted. You pick it up in Newton, or at whichever of our four locations is easier for you.
Timeline
Most board-level repairs take 2 to 5 business days. We tell you the full expected schedule before any work starts.
A phone, MacBook or console that won't power on is often a board fault, not a write-off. Many repair chains don't do board-level work and will tell you to buy a new one. Get a free diagnostic first. Learn more about our microsoldering work.
Warranty & Payment at Our Newton Store
Lifetime warranty on cell phone and iPad screen replacements
Every cell phone screen replacement and iPad screen replacement we do at Newton comes with a lifetime warranty covering four specific issues: touch sensitivity problems, ghost clicking, random clicking, and screen lifting. Bring the device back with your receipt and we'll repair or replace it free, no time limit. The warranty is honored at all four of our Massachusetts locations — repair in Newton today, drop into Watertown years later if you need to.
90-day warranty on all other repairs
Battery replacements, charging port repairs, back glass, board-level work, console repairs, laptop repairs, and Apple Watch repairs all carry a 90-day warranty. If the part fails or the repair has a defect within 90 days, bring it back with your receipt and we'll handle it. Water damage repairs are not warrantied — outcomes depend on factors we can't control.
What the warranty doesn't cover
The lifetime screen warranty covers the screen, not drop damage. If the glass survives a new drop but the LCD or OLED panel underneath develops lines, bands, or dead zones afterward, that's impact damage — not a warranty defect. A fresh crack from a new drop is a separate repair (we usually offer a small discount on a second repair within a reasonable period — ask at the counter). Damage from another shop opening the phone after we worked on it is also not covered. Full warranty terms here.
Payment methods
We accept cash, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, Apple Pay and Venmo. We do not accept American Express or personal checks. All quoted repair prices are pre-tax — 6.25% Massachusetts sales tax applies at checkout.
Towns We Serve from Our Newton Shop
Customers travel to our Newton Centre location from across the western, southern, and northwestern Boston suburbs. The Newton villages themselves (Newton Centre, Chestnut Hill, Waban, West Newton, Auburndale, Newton Corner, Newton Highlands) all reach us in under 10 minutes. Beyond Newton, we serve customers from Wellesley, Weston, Natick, and Waltham to the west, Needham, Dedham, West Roxbury to the south, and Brookline, Brighton to the east — mostly without highway driving.
If our Newton shop isn't the closest location for you, we have three other Massachusetts stores: Watertown (7 Main St) covers the inner Boston/Cambridge corridor, Burlington (271A Cambridge St) covers the northwest Boston suburbs, and Wakefield (18 Albion St) covers the North Shore. See all four locations and hours — the lifetime screen warranty applies at any location.

All quoted repair prices are before tax, and 6.25% Massachusetts sales tax is added at checkout. The price we quote after the free diagnostic is the price you pay, with no upcharges mid-repair. Customers travel to our Newton Centre shop from across the western, southern, and northwestern Boston suburbs — Newton itself and its villages (Newton Centre, Chestnut Hill, Waban, West Newton, Auburndale, Newton Corner, Newton Highlands), plus Brookline, Brighton, Wellesley, Weston, Natick, Waltham, Needham, Dedham, and West Roxbury. For repairs that don't require an in-shop diagnostic, we also offer on-site mobile service to nearby towns — call (617) 992-4003 to confirm coverage for your address.
Do you offer on-site mobile repair?
Yes, for select repairs (mostly phone screen and battery work) we come to you. We don't come inside: we park outside your home or office and do the repair in our van or in your car. There's typically a service-call minimum and the repair has to be one we can do without our workbench setup. Call (617) 992-4003 to confirm coverage for your address and what's possible for your specific repair.
Can I drop off in Newton and pick up at another location?
Yes. If you live in Newton but spend most of your time in Cambridge or Boston, drop off here and pick up at Watertown when it's convenient. If you split your week between offices, drop off where you are now and pick up wherever you'll be next. Just let us know at drop-off and we'll coordinate the transport (no extra fee).
